Suppose if the distance between child and the mirror is 10 m, then the distance between child and mirror will be 20 m.

If the child moves 1 m towards the mirror, the distance between the child and her images will be 18 m because the image also moves 1 m towards the mirror.

So, distance decreases at the rate of twice. Thus, Speed must also increase at the rate of twice.

So, if the child moves with a speed of 0.2 m/s, her image must move at the speed of = (0.2*2) m/s = 0.4 m/s
