Answer:

x = 9/28

Step-by-step explanation:

-(x/9 - x) = 2/7

Remember to follow PEMDAS...

PEMDAS =

Parenthesis

Exponents (& Roots)

Multiplications

Division

Addition

Subtraction

... As well as the left-> right rule.

First, distribute -1 to all terms within the parenthesis:

(-1)(x/9 - x) = -x/9 + x

- x/9 + x = 2/7

First, Multiply 9 to all terms. Note that what you do to one side, you do to the other.

(9)(-x/9 + x) = (9)(2/7)

-x + 9x = 18/7

Simplify. Combine like terms.

(-x + 9x) = 18/7

8x = 18/7

Isolate the variable, x. Divide 8 from both sides.

(8x)/8 = (18/7)/8

x = 18/(7 * 8)

x = 18/56

Simplify.

x = (18/56)/(2/2) = 9/28

9/28 is your answer.
