Please state some examples of the Neutralization of acids and bases.
Answers
The reaction between an acid and bases is called a neutralization reaction. The result of the reaction is salt and water. For example, when hydrochloric acid(acid) and sodium hydroxide(base) react they form sodium chloride(salt) and water.
Your Solution:
When a strong acid reacts with a strong base the resultant salt is neither acidic nor basic in nature i.e. it is neutral. For example when HCl (Hydrochloric acid), a strong acid, reacts with NaOH, a strong base, then the resulting salt is sodium chloride and water. Examples: Sulfuric acid [H2SO4], Hydrochloric acid [HCl], Acetic acid [CH3COOH]. A base is a molecule or ion able to accept a hydrogen ion from an acid. Examples: Sodium hydroxide [NaOH], milk of magnesia [Mg(OH)2], calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)2].
