Answer:

Number of sweets = 10

Number of samosas = 15

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1 of 4:

Let number of sweets = x and number of samosas = y.

Cost of 1 sweet = Rs.5/- ; Cost of 1 samosa = Rs.3/-

Therefore,

Cost of x sweets = 5x ; Cost of y sweets = 3y.

Step 2 of 4:

Given that:The number of sweets and samosas added up to 25.

Frame the equation: x+y=25 -------- (1)

Also given that he paid Rs. 95 (Cost of 5 sweets + cost of 3 samosas is Rs. 95)

i.e., 5x+3y=95  -------- (2)

Step 3 of 4:

Now we have two equations. Just solve to find x and y.

Muliply equation (1) by 3 and solve.

5x+3y=95\\3x+3y=75\\

Multiply 3x+3y=75 by minus.

5x+3y=95\\-3x-3y=-75\\

Cancel 3y.

We get 2x=20.

Hence x=10 (number of sweets)

Step 4 of 4:

Now substitute x=10 inx+y=25 and solve for y.

x+y=25\\10+y=25\\y=25-10\\y=15(number of samosas)

Hence ,

Number of sweets = 10

Number of samosas = 15
