19. Let the Money Tom has be : T

Let the Money Jasmine has be : J

Given that Tom and Jasmine have Rupees 41 altogether.

⇒ T + J = 41

Multiplying with 4 we get :

⇒ 4T + 4J = 164 ------------ [1]

Given that (\frac{1}{4})th of Tom's Money is 2 Rupees More than (\frac{1}{7})th of Jasmine.

\frac{T}{4} - 2 = \frac{J}{7}

\frac{T - 8}{4} = \frac{J}{7}

⇒ 7(T - 8) = 4J

⇒ 7T - 56 = 4J

⇒ 7T - 4J = 56 -------------- [2]

Adding both Equations [1] and [2], We get :

⇒ 4T + 4J + 7T - 4J = 164 + 56

⇒ 11T = 220

⇒ T = 20

⇒ Tom has 20 ₹

Option B is the Answer

20. Given Tom studies [(5 + \frac{1}{4}) = \frac{21}{4}\;Hours] Daily

Of the Total Time he spends [(2 + \frac{3}{4}) = \frac{11}{4}\;Hours] for English and Mathematics.

⇒ He Spends : [(\frac{21}{4} - \frac{11}{4}) = \frac{10}{4} = \frac{5}{2} = 2\frac{1}{2}\;Hours] on other Subjects.

19) Let Tom's money be x.

Thus Jasmine's money is 41-x because their sum is 41

1/4 of Tom's money is x/4

it is 2 more than 1/7 of Jasmine's money

x/4-2=(41-x)/7

==> (x-8)/4=(41-x)/7

==>7(x-8)=4(41-x)

==>7x-56=164-4x

==>11x=220

==>x=20

So Tom has Rs 20

Answer Option B

20) Tom studies 5  1/4 hours

==> 21/4 hours

Tom studies math and english 2  3/4 hours

==> 11/4 hours

Time for other subjects = 21/4-11/4

==>( 21-11) /4

==> 10/4

==> 5/2 hours

==> 2  1/2 hours

Answer Option A

Hope I helped you

Have a nice day:-)
