Let the two numbers be x and y and y<x

Given:

x² - y² = 180 ----->(1)  &

y² = 8x  ----->(2)

By substituting (2) in (1)

x² - 8x - 180 = 0.     (It is a quadratic equation).

x²-18x+10x-180 = 0

x(x-18) + 10(x-18) = 0

(x-18)(x+10) = 0

x = 18    or x = -10

Negative number is impossible since it does not satisfy (2).

So x = 18 which implies y = 12. [from (2)]

Therefore the two numbers are 18 and 12.
