Please tell how to solve these type of numericals....

1.) How many 176ohm resistors (in parallel) are required to carry 5 A on a 220 v line????

Answer only if you know the correct strategy and answer...

Need a appropriate answer as going to appear in boards......

Power = 5*220

=1100

Now we know power is equal to 1100

We know that power is also equal to I*l*R

So 1100/25=R

R =44

Now the resistors are identical so n/176=1/44 where n is no. of resistors

So n= 4

Therefore 4 resistors are required

Also you can cross check

Hope it helps

Total resistance R=V/I

=220/5 = 44 ohms

Since they are connected in parallel,

1/44=n/176 where n is the number of resistors that can be connected across the parallel combination.

So, by transposing we get n=176/44 =4

Therefore 4 resistors can be connected in parallel across the 220V line.

Hope you understood

All the best for your boards
