Basically you have to first get the equation from the given question. If the equation contains any variable with power 2,than it is a quadratic equation and if it contains variable with power 1,than it is linear.

princess32: but by this also we can not get like we can take the friends age in terms of X and Y but in quad we have to take only in one variable what is this? how can we conclude hre we have to take in terms of X only oR X nd Y by seeing word problmes
Luv55: there are further two types of linear and quadratic equations. The one you are talking about is linear equations in two variables but its the same for this question too becquse the power of all the variable is 1 as u can see.If it would have been X² and Y² or X² and Y¹ and so on than it would be quadratic equations in 2 variable.
princess32: but i m asking this that suppose a wrd prblm cms in exm now how we can conclude by seeing the wrd prblm that this is in quad or kinear
Luv55: For that you have to read the question carefully and understand whats the question says. For instance if tye question says that the age of your friend is twice the squares of yours(i.e. if your age is X than your friends age would be 2×X²) than thats a quadratic equation because the cofficient of the variable is ².Hope you understand what I'm trying to tell you.
