The question is :—

a rectangular park is surrounded by a path which is 2.5 m wide . if the length and rectangular park are 20m and 15m respectively, find the area of the path.

Solution :-

to find the path--

Area of small rect = 15×20

= 300m²

here we get the inner side area as 300m² now to find the outer rectangle

observe that 2.5 m is the path

so

for area of outer side

l=20+2.5+2.5

=25 is the length for outer rectangle

b= 15+2.5+2.5

=20. is the breadth for outer rectangle

now we have both L and B

so-

Area of big rec= 25×20

= 500m²

area of path = area of big rect - area of small rect

area of path = 500-300

= 200m²
