Some additional differences between algae and fungi. Algae are aquatic i.e. they are found around water and are capable of conducting photosynthesis. As they need light to conduct photosynthesis, they cannot flourish in darker environments.
While fungi are heterotrophic non vascular plants and don't have chlorophyll means they cannot conduct photosynthesis, making them heterotrophic. As they don't conduct photosynthesis, they are found and can survive in darker environments also.
