Green revolution began in the late 1960s...it was a huge success in the north-Punjab and Haryana. Green revolution includes the useage of HYV(high yielding variety) seeds, chemical fertilizers,etc. The advantage is that the production was a lot, and the disadvantage is that as it required a lot of water, it lead to the deplition in the water table and due to high useage of chemical fertilizer it led to the degradation in the fertility level of soil.
