We need water for various purposes like drinking , bathing , washing , cooking and many other activities . Plants need water to live and grow . Animals also need water to drink and to bathe .

The main source of water on the earth is rain . Most of the fresh water comes on the earth in the form of rain . Farmers depend upon rain to irrigate their fields . The different sources pf water are rain , lakes , ponds , rivers , seas and oceans . Water is stored in dams and reservoirs .

Now-a-days water bodies are polluted due to several human activities . As a result , fresh water has become filthy . Many human activities are polluting water .

Water is precious . Although 70% of our earth covered with water , still it cannot be used for daily activities as most of it is salty . Fresh water that is available in the form of underground water and water in rivers , ponds and lakes is not enough for everyone . This is the cause of water shortage . Thus , we need to be a little careful to conserve water . We should be a little careful to conserve water and keep it safe from getting polluted . We must make sure that the water we drink is pure . Water is non-renewable resource . We cannot produce it again if it lost .
