Please tell me about angle of deviation and angle of the prism. I cannot understand it.
Answer the following questions:-
1. What is the formula for finding the angle of deviation in a prism?
2. How does refraction occur in a prism?
3. How a normal is represented in a prism?
4. How dispersion of colours (spectrum) depends on? What will be the topmost colour and bottom colour if the prism is kept upside down?
Please answer the questions. Tomorrow Physics exam.

ANGLE OF DEVIATION- angle between the incident ray and the emerging ray. That is in the above pic incident ray is OP and emergent ray is QR , so angle of deviation is the angle between these two rays that is angle LDQ.

ANGLE OF PRISM- The angle between two surfaces is known as refracting angle or angle of prism. that is in the above pic ANGLE A .

1, angle of deviation = incident angle+emergent angle - angle of prism

2,When light passes through a prism the light bends. As a result, the different colors that make up white light become separated. This happens because each color has a particular wavelength and each wavelength bends at a different angle. this bending of light causes refraction to occur.

3, normal is perpendicular to the surface. so normal in that pic are NN' and MN'.

4, it depends on wavelength. Red has max wavelength so least deviated . and violet has least wavelenght so max deviation. When white light falls on a glass prism, each colour in it is refracted by a different angle, from which red colour is least deviated and violet most. the bottom most colour is violet and top is red.
