Mahatma Gandhi started Satyagraha movement which stared that - " If the cause of the struggle was true , then the physical force was not required to fight against the oppressor . A satyagrahi could win the battle through following non violent methods. Gandhiji thought this movement would unite all the Indians to fight against the British.

Mahatma Gandhi launched non cooperation movement which was meant to be a peaceful protest without breaking any laws made by the British government . Gandhiji told the people of India to stop going to the schools and colleges run by the British government . He told the lawyers not to go the courts run by the British government. But , after the Chauri Chaura incident , it was evident that the people of India were turning violent against the British . Gandhhi thought that the people of India were not ready to face the mass struggle . So , he decided to withdraw non cooperation movement.

Next , Mahatma Gandhiji launched Civil disobedience movement which was meant to break or violate the salt laws and forest laws introduced by the British government . Many followers of Gandhi , including Gandhi himself participated in the famous salt march which started from Sabarmati ashram to coastal town of Gujarat , Dandi . They broke the salt laws and manufactured salt by boiling sea water.

Gandhiji also organised Quit India movement in which he forced the British to quit India and demanded purna swaraj or full independence for India.

Hope it helps:)
