Answer:

What are the differences between Gautama Buddha and Mahavira in teaching styles and ideas?

i dont know whats the difference between between the teaching of Buddha and mahavira but i do know some differences between jainism and buddhism, jainism is very strict about certain things while buddhism is not for example vegetarianism and concept of ahimsa, jains observe strict vegetarianism and even wear masks in order to avoid harming micro organism, this is also considered first indian philosophy on organisms which are invisible to the naked eye, while buddhists generally try to be vegetarians, they are not that strict and may occasionally consume meat, while jains even avoid eating things which might be connected to animals such as cheese, drinking milk etc i think, while jainism traditionally accounts how mahavira meditated standing for a number of months so that moss started growing on his feet, buddha relinquished the strict form of ascetism and chose the middle path. buddhism might have discouraged making images of buddha but there were no restriction in jainism, infact the first mahavira figures predate the buddhist depiction of buddha. while buddhism traces its origins from buddha in 5th cen BC, jainism traces its origins even before indu valley civilization. jainism.
