  \bf\sqrt{x}  -  \frac{1}{2}  = 2

Squaring both sides we get

  =  > \bf( \sqrt{x}  -  \frac{1}{2} )  ^{2} = (2) ^{2}

 \bf  =  > x  - 2 =  4

 \bf =  > x = 4 + 2

 \bf =  > x = 6
