Let the distance between the house and school is d km.
Let actual time taken to travel from home to school be x minutes.
Speed in first case = 4 km/h
Let time taken in first case= x+11/60
speed in second case= 5 km/h
let time taken in second case= x-7/60
Now distance covered in first case
d=4*(x+11/60) (equation 1)
now distance traveled in second case
d=5*(x-7/60) (equation 2)
on comparing equations 1 and 2.
4*(x+11/60)=5*(x-7/60)
4x+11/15=5x-7/12
4x-5x=-7/12-11/15
-1x=-35/60-44/60
-x=-79/60
x=79/60
putting this value of x in equation 1
4*(79/60+11/60)
4*90/60
=6 km
