lets take the salary of a clerk be x. When increased by 30%, new salary =x+30/100x= 1.3x. it has to be decreased to x,then the decrease =1.3x-1x/1.3x=
0.3/1.3 =3/13. Decrease%=3/13×100= 300/13 =23.0769230~23.077% .Hope it helps you...

Let's consider the salary of the clerk to be 100.

So, If the salary is increased by 30%, then the new salary -

100+ [100×(30/100) ] = 100+30= 130

So, his new salary is 130

To make his salary original 30 must be subtracted from 130 , then his salary will be 130-30= 100 or original salary.

So, To find percentage of salary which must be decreased we must find that 30 is what percentage of 130.

So, decrease%

= (30/130) × 100

= 300/13 × 100

= 23,07692307%

Answer) 23,07692307% his new salary must be deducted so that his salary becomes Original.

ItzTacoTimee: 23,077% if rounded off. (Or 23,1)
