refractive index is the ratio of speed of light in air to the speed of light in given media

hrishabh31: yes if it is asking absolute refractive index then you have to compare with speed of light
hrishabh31: and if it is saying to find refractive index of a media with respect to another you have to find ratio of speednof light in both media
