let sides be a units

AD= √3/2a

it is given that triangles are equilateral:

hence,

triangle ABC similar to triangle ADE

ar(ABC)/ar(ADE) =

= side of (ABC)^2/side of (ADE)^2

=(√3/2a)^2/a^2

=3/4a^2/a^2

=3a^2/ 4a^2

=3/4

hence proved.....
