and subtracting two on both sides
(a-1/a)²=9
a-1/a=±3
and
a³-1/a³=(a-1/a)(a²+1+1/a²)
=±3*12
=±36
(a-1/a)²=9
a-1/a=±3
and
a³-1/a³=(a-1/a)(a²+1+1/a²)
=±3*12
=±36
