Let the denominator be x
Let the numerator be (x-5)
Orignal Rational number =  \frac{x-5}{x}

The equation would be :-

 \frac{x-5-1}{x+2} =  \frac{1}{5}

Solving Further :-

 \frac{x-6}{x+2}  =  \frac{1}{5}
Cross multiplying
5 (x-6) = 1 ( x+2)
5x - 30 = x+2
5x - x   = 2 +30
4x        = 32
x          = 32/4
x          = 8

Orignal Rational Number =  \frac{x-5}{x}
                                            =  \frac{8-5}{9}
                                            =  \frac{3}{8}

Hope it helps.Please mark as the brainliest.
