AREA OF EQUILATERAL TRIANGLE = √3/4 side²

Side given = 4 cm

AREA = 3 /4 × 4 × 4

= 3 × 4 = 12 cm² or 3.46 cm ²

now AREA of square

= side²

= 1 × 1 = 1 cm²

AREA OF SHADED PART

= AREA OF TRIANGLE - AREA OF SQUARE

= 3.46 - 1

= 2.46 CM²
