They carried valuable goods from place to place. There were religious teachers who used to walk from village to village and from town to town. They offered instruction and advice to people who met them on the way.There were also people who traveled because they were adventurous by nature. They enjoyed discovering new and exciting places.

Other ways are digging things up, going to the museum to see the things of the past, reading a past newspaper, watching a video, looking at a picture of the past, from old friends and families, watching art, reading the past from the internet, from performances, finding a past from a teacher among many others.
