Let the two numbers be 5x and 7x.

New ratio obtained if two is subtracted from each numbers = 7:10

According to the problem ,

\frac{5x-2}{7x-2} = \frac{7}{10}

By cross multiplication , we get

10(5x - 2) = 7(7x - 2)

50x - 20 = 49x - 14

50x - 49x = 20 - 14

∴ x = 6

The two numbers are

5x = 5*6 = 30

and

7x = 7*6 = 42.
