   ∴ they add upto 90°

   ∴ 2x +3x = 180°

   ∴ x =  36

(b)  5x and x are interior angles on the same side of the transversal

    ∴ 5x + x = 180°

    ∴ 6x = 180

    ∴x = 30  

in fig. (b) x and y are vertex opposite angles

vertex opp. angles are always equal   ∴  x = y  

∴ x = y = 30°

x + z = 180  [ linear pair ]

∴ 30 + z = 180

∴ z = 150°
