Given:-

total potential difference=10V

potential difference across R,

v=iR

R=v/i

R=4/i

total resistance=R+2000

total \: resistance =  \frac{4}{i}  + 2000

total \: resistance =  \frac{4 + 2000i}{i} \: ohm

now,

i =   \frac{</strong><strong>V</strong><strong>}{R}

i =  \frac{10 \times i}{4 + 2000i}

1 =  \frac{10}{4 + 2000i}

4 + 2000i = 10

i =  \frac{6}{2000}

i = 3 \times  {10}^{ - 3} ampere

power across R,

p =  v_{r}i

p = 4 \times 3 \times  {10}^{ - 3}

p = 12 \times  {10}^{ - 3} w

p = 12 \: mw

so,

option (c) is correct
