That is the least degree of power of the common term is when multiplied by other such terms is the HCF of two numbers.

Numbers in this Question = 300, 100

⇒ 300 = 2 × 2 × 3 × 5 × 5 ⇒ 2² × 5² × 3

⇒ 100 = 2 × 2 × 5 × 5 ⇒ 2² × 5²

Now the common terms are 2 and 5.

The least power of 2 is 2² and that of 5 is 5².

Hence HCF = 2² × 5² = 4 × 25 = 100
