It is the story of 2 naughty boys. They had a habit of throwing things in an empty well when they passed by that well. Once, their brother gave them some letters to be posted. On the way to post office, they went near that well. As usual, they started throwing things into the well. Accidentally, they threw the letters also to it. They knew that there was a poisonous snake in it. When they looked down, they saw that the letters are in-front of the snake. They had two options before them ; either lie to their brother that they posted the letters or take the letters from the well. They feared that their brother would punish them if he come to know the truth. So they decided to risk their lifes & get the letters from well. One of them went down to the well. He was right in-front of the snake. He threw a stone to the other side to distract the snake. When it moved to other side, he suddenly took the letters & came out. This was a lesson for them.

Answer:

Smriti' This text is based on the true incident of writer Shriram Sharma's childhood. The author has given a very vivid and interesting description of this incident. Such a beautiful addition of interestingness has been made in this story that the reader keeps himself attached to the story till the end of the story. This incident happened during the childhood of the author. His elder brother had sent him to send letters to another village. Out of curiosity, the children stopped to see the snake in the well falling outside the village. His letters fell in the well while throwing stones in the well. This is where the adventure begins in the story. How children take out the letter from the well while the snake is still there and in all this they have to face many difficulties. Through this story, the spontaneity of childhood, lack of sensitivity and courage in the face of danger has been depicted very correctly.
