1. The books were composed by poets from different priestly groups over a period of several centuries between c. 1500 and 1200 BC, (the early Vedic period) in the Punjab (Sapta Sindhu) region of the northwest Indian subcontinent.

2. Rigveda, (Sanskrit: “The Knowledge of Verses”) also spelled Ṛgveda, the oldest of the sacred books of Hinduism, composed in an ancient form of Sanskrit about 1500 bce, in what is now the Punjab region of India and Pakistan.

3.Some of these are gods still known and worshipped today, some have been changed but are still part of the Hindu pantheon, while others are no longer commonly worshipped. The most important deities of the Rigveda were in fact Indra, Agni, and Soma.
