Solution :-

We need to find the value of x

Here , the line which has length of 12 units is the height. Since , the given ∆ has two equal sides it is a isosceles ∆ with base x.

Now , by seeing the diagram in the given picture

Using pythagoras theorem

Hypotenuse² = Base² + Height²

→ 15² = 12² + (x/2)²

→ 225 - 144 = x²/4

→ 81 = x²/4

→ 81 × 4 = x²

→ √81 × 4 = x

→ √81 × √4 = x

→ 9 × 2 = x

x = 18

Hence , x = 18 units.

Answer:

18

Step-by-step explanation

called: \frac{1}{2} x is y

according to the pythagorean theorem, we have:

15^{2} =12^{2} +y^{2} \\=> y^{2} =15^{2} -12^{2} =81\\=>y=9

so: x=y*2=9*2=18
