Question

Verify the following :-

\sf (5x+8)^2-160x=(5x-8)^2

Answer

\sf LHS = (5x+8)^2-160x

\sf = (5x)^2 + 8^2 + 2(5x)(8) - 160x

\sf = 25x^2 + 64 + 80x - 160x

\sf = 25^2 + 64 - 80x

\sf RHS = (5x -8)^2

\sf = 25x^2 + 8^2 - 2(5x)(8)

\sf = 25x^2 + 64 - 80x

\sf 25^2 + 64 - 80x = 25^2 + 64 - 80x

LHS = RHS

Hence verified.
