• The grown up children now fully depend on the parents for decisions from their child hood training of full dependence, without the ability to make their own decisions.

The connotation of “chivvy” is to nag. This poem contracts with the emotional state of poet and other kids who feel annoyed by their elders. Grownups typically instruct their child but in contrary they feel that child should make up their own mind, adults generally speak things like dont stare,dont point,dont drag your feet etc.
