Given that 5 years ago, the sum of the ages of a mother and her daughter was 60 years.

Let the age of mother be x and daughter be y.

x - 5 + y - 5 = 60

x + y - 10 = 60

x + y = 70   -------- (1)

Given that The difference of their ages 5 years from now will be 30 years.

x + 5 - y - 5 = 30

x - y = 30

x - y = 30   ------- (2)

On solving (1) & (2), we get

x + y = 70

x - y = 30

--------------

2x = 100

x = 50.

Substitute x = 50 in (1), we get

x + y = 70

50 + y = 70

y = 20.

Therefore the age of mother = 50 years, The age of daughter = 20 years.

Hope this helps!

Hey!!

Here is your answer ,,

Present age of Mother = x years
Present age of Daughter = y years

Given that :- 5 years ago the sum of Mother and Daughter was 60 years.

5 years ago Mother's age = x - 5
5 years ago Daughter's age = y - 5

x-5 + y-5 = 60
x + y - 10 -60 = 0
x + y -70 = 0
x = 70 - y. ..…... (1)

:- Difference of their ages 5 years from now will be 30.

x-5 - (y - 5 ) = 30
x - 5 - y + 5 = 30
x - y = 30
70 - y - y = 30. (from eq. 1 )
-2y = - 40
y = 20

put value of ( y ) in eq. (1)

x = 70 - 20
x = 50

so ,

present age of Mother is 50 years (x)
and present age of Daughter is 20 years (y)

HOPE IT HELP...

THANKS..
