First, we have to find the area of the whole rectangle, so 20 x 12 = 240. So 240 cm is the area. Then we need to find the area of the small rectangle. So 12 x 5 = 60. So the area of he small rectangle is 60 cm. Now we have to find the area of the triangle. So we know that he area of he rectangle is 240 cm and he area of he small rectangle is 60 cm. 240-60=180. So we now we know the area of the inside rectangle. But the triangle is half of that rectangle so 180 divided by 2 = 90.  So now we know the area of the triangle! Now we must find the sum of all the areas. So 60 + 90 = 150. So the sum is 150.

Hope this helps!
