9) The oxidising agent is MnO⁴- .Here, it is reduced to Mn²+ .

  • KmnO4 always acts a oxidising agent.

10) Hypochlorous acid is HClO. Let the oxidation state of chlorine in it be 'x'.

then, net charge is 0. Hence, oxidation state = 0.

So, 1 + x - 2 = 0

=> x = 1.

So, oxidation state of chlorine in hypocholorous acid is + 1.
