Answer:

By Using the formula: -

We know that the perimeter of any rectangular shaped body = 2( length + breadth )

In the question , length = 4 cm, breadth = 2 cm

Applying the formula given above :-

⇒ Perimeter of the rectangle = 2( 4 + 2 )cm

⇒ Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 ( 6 ) cm

⇒ Perimeter of the rectangle = 12 cm

Without using formula : -

We know that the perimeter of any figure is the sum of it's sides.

In rectangle, there are four sides but the length of opposites( parallel ) lines remains equal. These lines in rectangle are known as length ( longer side ) and breadth ( shorter side ).

In the question, length of the rectangle = 4 cm

breadth of the rectangle = 2 cm

⇒ Perimeter of the rectangle = sum of all sides

⇒ Perimeter of the rectangle = 1st side + 2nd side + 3rd side + 4th side

As explained above that the length of opposite sides is equal and they are know as length & breadth. Let the opposite sides are 1st and 2nd , 3rd and 4th

⇒ Perimeter of the rectangle = 1st side + 1st side +3rd side + 3rd side

⇒ Perimeter of the rectangle = 2( 1st side ) + 2( 3rd side )

⇒ Perimeter of the rectangle = 2( 4cm ) + 2( 2 cm )

⇒ Perimeter of the rectangle = 8 cm + 4cm

⇒ Perimeter of the rectangle = 12 cm
