Please tell the IUPAC name for this compound (48th structure).

What will be the parent carbon chain in this? The chain having amine because amines are higher than alkanes in seniority table or the chain having only carbon atoms because it is longest? Why?

Answer:

Here’s a little nomenclature dilemma.

Let’s say you’re trying to name a molecule. You’re familiar with the familiar naming suffixes like -ol, -ene, -ane, -oic acid and so on. But then you come across a molecule which has multiple functional groups.

Raman effect, change in the wavelength of light that occurs when a light beam is deflected by molecules. When a beam of light traverses a dust-free, transparent sample of a chemical compound, a small fraction of the light emerges in directions other than that of the incident (incoming) beam.
