Answer:

a) I) The basic need of a growing youth is the family, love , attention, bonding along with moral values which children do not learn in nuclear families since they lack the atmosphere of a joint family.

ii) Independence and individuality both needs to be respected in order to maintain the sanctity of family. In nuclear families the children get too much freedom and independence and they spend no time in studies ,get surplus pocket money , excessive extravagance and they do not understand the real meaning of a family and lead a harmful life .

b) The parents themselves of the children are responsible for this since they do not live with their families and decide to live alone. So the children do not learn to adjust within means and follow the wrong path as they get too much freedom, independence do overnight parties, get surplus pocket money and pay no time in studies. We should not forget ' Charity begins at home.'

The youth thus lack the basic needs such as respecting elders, loving youngsters.

c) In joint families children love to live with their cousins, learn to adjust within means and learn to respect the elders and show love, care and concern for youngsters. A perfect generation gap is maintained in a joint family because the forefathers lived in joint families and thus their children also live in joint families and no concept of old age homes are learnt. Even the minor differences are solved amicably.
