now subtract equation 2 from 1

4x+7y=12
4x+3y=2

4y=10
y=5/2

now putting the value of y in equations 2.

4x+3x5/2=2

4x+10/2=2

4x=2-10/2

4x=(4-10)/2

4x=-6/2

4x=-3
x=-3/4
