In static friction, the frictional force resists force that is applied to an object, and the object remains at rest until the force of static friction is overcome. In kinetic friction, the frictional force resists the motion of an object

Static friction...

Here's and example for your understanding-

Sometimes we try to push heavy objects arround like aj almirah. so we find it hard at first to make it move...why? because of static friction.

When two objects that were at rest, (like almirah was standing not moving) they get time to have the micrsurface irregularities to lock by. Hence static friction is observed there.

(Fact: Static friction is strongest type of friction and rolling the weakest type)

I hope it helped ya....
