[The answers of third and fourth question are attached]

Solution :-

The given problems to us are the questions related to the topic of 'Linear equations in one variable'.

Let's solve the problems one by one.

1. Give first the step you will use to separate the variable and then solve the equation.

Answer (1a) :-

\sf \leadsto x - 1 = 0

\sf \leadsto x = 0 + 1

\sf \leadsto x = 1

Answer (1b) :-

\sf \leadsto x + 1 = 0

\sf \leadsto x = 0 - 1

\sf \leadsto x = -1

Answer (1c) :-

\sf \leadsto x - 1 = 5

\sf \leadsto x = 5 + 1

\sf \leadsto x = 6

Answer (1d) :-

\sf \leadsto x + 6 = 2

\sf \leadsto x = 2 - 6

\sf \leadsto x = -4

Answer (1e) :-

\sf \leadsto y - 4 = -7

\sf \leadsto y = -7 + 4

\sf \leadsto y = -3

Answer (1f) :-

\sf \leadsto y - 4 = 4

\sf \leadsto y = 4 + 4

\sf \leadsto y = 8

Answer (1g) :-

\sf \leadsto y + 4 = 4

\sf \leadsto y = 4 - 4

\sf \leadsto y = 0

Answer (1h) :-

\sf \leadsto y + 4 = -4

\sf \leadsto y = -4 - 4

\sf \leadsto y = -8

Now, let's find the answers of the second question.

2. Give first the step you will use to separate the variable and then solve the equation.

Answer (2a) :-

\sf \leadsto 3l = 42

\sf \leadsto l = \dfrac{42}{3}

\sf \leadsto l = 14

Answer (2b) :-

\sf \leadsto \dfrac{b}{2} = 6

\sf \leadsto b = 6(2)

\sf \leadsto b = 12

Answer (2c) :-

\sf \leadsto \dfrac{p}{7} = 4

\sf \leadsto p = 4(7)

\sf \leadsto p = 28

Answer (2d) :-

\sf \leadsto 4x = 25

\sf \leadsto x = \dfrac{25}{4}

\sf \leadsto x = 6.25

Answer (2e) :-

\sf \leadsto 8y = 36

\sf \leadsto y = \dfrac{36}{8}

\sf \leadsto y = 4.5

Answer (2f) :-

\sf \leadsto \dfrac{z}{3} = \dfrac{5}{4}

\sf \leadsto 4z = 5(3)

\sf \leadsto 4z = 15

\sf \leadsto z = \dfrac{15}{4}

\sf \leadsto z = 3.75

Answer (2g) :-

\sf \leadsto \dfrac{a}{5} = \dfrac{7}{15}

\sf \leadsto 15a = 7(5)

\sf \leadsto 15a = 35

\sf \leadsto a = \dfrac{35}{15}

\sf \leadsto a = \dfrac{6}{3}

Answer (2h) :-

\sf \leadsto 20t = -10

\sf \leadsto t = \dfrac{-10}{20}

\sf \leadsto t = \dfrac{-1}{2}

\sf \leadsto t = -0.5

1. Check:

a. x − 1 = 0 x − 1 = 0

=> x − 1 = 0 (1) - 1 = 0

=> x = 0 + 1 0 = 0

=> x = 1 LHS = RHS

b. x + 1 = 0 x + 1 = 0

=> x + 1 = 0 (-1) + 1 = 0

=> x = 0 - 1 0 = 0

=> x = -1. LHS = RHS

c. x - 1 = 5 x - 1 = 5

=> x - 1 = 5 (6) - 1 = 5

=> x = 5 + 1 5 = 5

=> x = 6 LHS = RHS

d. x + 6 = 2 x + 6 = 2

=> x + 6 = 2 (-4) + 6 = 2

=> x = 2 - 6 2 = 2
