let p(x)=2x^4-5x^3+2x^2-x+2
first will factorise x^2-3x+2 by using by middle term splitting
=x^2-3x+2
=x^2+((-2)+(-1))x+2
=x^2-x-2x+2
=x(x-1)-2(x-1)
=(x-2)(x-1)
As (x-2)(x-1) = x^2-3x+2
Now, let (x-a)=(x-2)
let (x-b)=(x-1)
as x-a =0
x=2
p(2)=2(2)^4-5(2)^3+2(2)^2-(2)+2
=32-40+8-2+2
=-42+42
=0
as x-b = 0
x=1
p(1)=2(1)^4-5(1)^3+2(1)^2-(1)+2
=2-5+2-1+2
=-6+6
=0
as we are getting 0 after putting x=1 and x=2
hence x-1 and x-2 are factors of p(x)
as (x-2)(x-1)=x^2-3x+2
hence x^2-3x+2 is a factor of p(x)
