Please write a precis :-
In the beginning of the thirteenth century Europe first began to hear about the Tartans,
who came from the far east of Asia. They were a wandering people who did not cultivate the
land, but lived by war and plunder. Savage in their habits, these terrible warriors, mounted
on their hardy ponies, were sweeping westwards under their chief Chenghis. In the north, one
horde of them overran the east of Russia, while in the south another horde captured Bagdad
(1258), and their great king Kubla Khan reigned from Peking to the Caspian. The Turks also
were spreading across from Asia Minor into the Balkans, and captured Constantinople in 1453.
The Arabs who had long held North Africa crossed into Spain at Gibraltar. Thus Europe was
reigned in by a semi-circle of fierce people.
