Dear friends,
Today we celebrate the "United
Nations Day" to commemorate the formation of the UNO on October 24, 1945.
The UNO was formed after world war II to prevent world wars and further loss to humanity and to make love-bonds among nations.
UNO said this without
actually saying "Together
We Go Far".
Let us remind ourselves of the
goals and achievements of the UNO. UNO maintains world peace, promotes human
rights, funds social and economic development, fosters and funds economic
development and plans for environmental protection. Not only that, UNO helps
nations in times of famine, international wars and natural disasters.
"Alone We
Fall, Together We are strong."
There is great need to
strengthen the international cooperation for trade and development.
Because of the World War II, the third world was very poor and hungry. The need
of development was immense. UNO has been able to achieve a lot. Remember what
Gulliver simply said "War!,
What is it good for? Absolutely Nothing!".
We celebrate this week from 20th
Oct to 26 Oct with a lot of meetings, discussions, cultural presentations, food
festivals, cultural exchanges and so on. In international schools like
ours this day is really relevant and promotes harmony among students from
all over the world.
Today we also celebrate the "World Development Information Day".
International bodies hold meetings and discussions to eliminate problems
and blockades in development of countries.
We Indians have always
respected UNO and its functions. We have always participated in all major
activities. We are always committed to UNO's objectives. While we are strong
supporters and promoters of our Great Indian culture and traditions, we
respect and support International communities.
So friends, let's put all our
pens and swords across and say like the three
musketeers, "One
for All and All for One".
Perhaps many of us will educate,
work and settle internationally. It's good to know about UNO and follow
its good principles too. We shall all study, learn, work, develop
together in a mutually beneficial manner. Love All.
