When species that originally do not belong to this region are brought from somewhere else and are cultivated here, then the species that live here (native ones) have to compete with the new species for living.
For example now on a small area if many plants are growing and if we bring even more number of species and grow them, then all of them might not get enough sunlight, nutrients and water. So the native species may die. Thus their number is reduced.
On the other hand the new species may continue to grow.
