compare the two triangles  ABC and AMD.
AM = 1/2 AB.    AM || AB,  MD || BC,  AD || AC.
So they are similar triangles.

As AM = 1/2 AB, AD = 1/2 AC.
Hence,  D is the midpoint of AC.

In right angled ΔABC,

M is the mid point of AB.
DM ║ BC

By converse mid point theorem,
D is the mid point of AC.
