Let the breadth of the rectangle be x.

Thus ,

The length of rectangle will be

x + 5 .

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 ( l + b )

= 2[ ( x + 5) + x]

= 2 ( 2x + 5) cm

The length is increased by 6 cm.

(x + 5) + 6 = x + 11

The breadth is decreased by 3cm

x - 3

New Perimeter of rectangle =

2 [ (x + 11) + ( x - 3 ) ]

= 2(2x + 8)

New perimeter = 8 / 7 × original perimeter

2(2x + 8) = 8 / 7 × 2(2x + 5)

2x + 8 = 8 / 7 × (2x + 5)

7(2x + 8) = 8(2x +5)

14x + 56 = 16x +40

16x - 14x = 56 - 40

2x = 16

x = 8

Breadth = 8cm

Length = 8 + 5 =13cm
