yes it is possible because if the object experiences force(negligible also) then it should move with some velocity because according to newton's law of motion of inertia
"An object in motion tends to be in motion and an object at rest tends to be in rest till any external force changes there state." So the planets in space due to lack of external force moves along their own orbit. So it is possible in space but in earth there would be many opposing forces like air friction, friction,gravitational pull etc. it might be not possible on earth but possible in space.
