Given:

Mass of Na2S2O3 = 24.8 gm

Total no of notes = no of oxygen atoms in 24.8 gm Na2S2O3

Molar mass of Na2S2O3 = 248 gm

Notes counted by machine in 1 day = 48 million

To Find:

No of days taken to count all the notes.

Calculation:

- No of moles of Na2S2O3 in 24.8 gm = 24.8 / 248 = 0.1 moles

- No of moles of oxygen atoms in 0.1 moles of Na2S2O3 = 0.1 × 3 = 0.3 moles

- No of oxygen atoms in 0.1 moles of Na2S2O3 = 0.3 × 6.022 × 10²³ = 18.066 × 10²³ atoms

⇒Total no of notes = 18.066 × 10²³ atoms

- Time taken by machine to calculate 48 million notes = 1 day

- Time taken by machine to calculate 18.066 × 10²³ notes = (1/48×10⁶) × 18.066 × 10²³

Time taken by machine to calculate 18.066 × 10²³ notes = 3.763 × 10¹⁶ days
